In the middle of the 20th century, while the glass industry was striving for absolute perfection, master glassmaker Eloi Monod made the opposite bet.<\/p>\n

By turning the bubble into a signature rather than a flaw, our House gave birth to bubbled glass: a living material, shaped by hand, where irregularity becomes beauty.<\/p>\n

Since 1956, this spirit has continued to inspire our craftsmanship \u2014 combining artisanal rigor, transmission, and love of the gesture.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Opening the workshop to the world, a pioneer of industrial tourism<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

At a time when no one visited manufacturing workshops, La Verrerie de Biot\u00ae pioneered industrial tourism in 1956 by opening its doors and transforming the work of the master glassmaker into a living experience.<\/p>\n

With every visit, a strong bond is created between the glassmaker, the piece, and the visitor \u2014 beyond words.<\/p>\n

This is how industrial tourism was born: from a small workshop born from the simple desire to share its craft with others.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

A story of glass and art<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

In the 1980s, the rising fame of the Cannes Film Festival brought international artists to the French Riviera \u2014 and along the way, to La Verrerie de Biot. Visitors from around the world carried La Verrerie de Biot creations home, introducing bubbled glass far beyond the French Riviera. The world then discovered bubbled glass, and many people came to visit the Glassworks on their way to holiday.<\/p>\n

Biot is also a land renowned for its artists. From Fernand L\u00e9ger to Renoir, Art has long been part of Biot's identity. In 1985, the Serge Lechaczynski Art Gallery was founded opposite the glassworks, with the ambition of showcasing contemporary glass artists to an international audience.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
