Our story, between heritage and innovation

Since our founding in 1956, we have broken down the walls.
Here, craftsmanship is not hidden — it is shared.
More than a Glassworks of excellence: a land of artists, a laboratory of innovation, and a family story.

Born of audacity

In the middle of the 20th century, while the glass industry was striving for absolute perfection, master glassmaker Eloi Monod made the opposite bet.

By turning the bubble into a signature rather than a flaw, our House gave birth to bubbled glass: a living material, shaped by hand, where irregularity becomes beauty.

Since 1956, this spirit has continued to inspire our craftsmanship — combining artisanal rigor, transmission, and love of the gesture.

The legacy of Fire

A story of families and passion.

The soul of our House lies in the lightness of a bubble — but it is the human hand that brings it to life. This craftsmanship has been preserved through three generations by the Lechaczynski family.

Here, transmission is more than a value - it is a way of life. Our glassmakers pass down their passion and the mastery of their craft. More than a renowned site, La Verrerie de Biot® is a house of families, where every creation bears the imprint of those who shaped it.

The Art of Reinvention

For seventy years, La Verrerie de Biot® has continuously explored the possibilities of bubbled glass, between technical mastery and creative freedom.

Over the years, we have brought new creations to life, always with the ambition of surprising glass lovers with pieces that only the human hand can create.

Opening the workshop to the world, a pioneer of industrial tourism

At a time when no one visited manufacturing workshops, La Verrerie de Biot® pioneered industrial tourism in 1956 by opening its doors and transforming the work of the master glassmaker into a living experience.

With every visit, a strong bond is created between the glassmaker, the piece, and the visitor — beyond words.

This is how industrial tourism was born: from a small workshop born from the simple desire to share its craft with others.

A story of glass and art

In the 1980s, the rising fame of the Cannes Film Festival brought international artists to the French Riviera — and along the way, to La Verrerie de Biot. Visitors from around the world carried La Verrerie de Biot creations home, introducing bubbled glass far beyond the French Riviera. The world then discovered bubbled glass, and many people came to visit the Glassworks on their way to holiday.

Biot is also a land renowned for its artists. From Fernand Léger to Renoir, Art has long been part of Biot's identity. In 1985, the Serge Lechaczynski Art Gallery was founded opposite the glassworks, with the ambition of showcasing contemporary glass artists to an international audience.

The Serge Lechaczynski International Glass Gallery

The Serge Lechaczynski International Glass Gallery, which accompanies the Glassworks, has been exhibiting artworks by international contemporary artists for nearly 50 years — all united by the same love: glass.
